There's a bit of autism in all of us

Samahria Lyte Kaufman working with her son, Raun, over 35 years ago in what would
become the prototype for The Son-Rise Program for autism which has beneficially
impacted the lives of children with autism worldwide.

The major difference between behavior called autistic and behavior viewed as normal is the duration of the behavior. Look at a raindrop or contemplate the movement of your hands and you’d be seen as a curious, thoughtful person. But stare at a raindrop for minutes and more minutes and more minutes and you’d be viewed as having some sort of a “problem.” Now, going further, if you watched the movement your hands made with focused attention for hours, maybe even all day while excluding all other interpersonal interactions...well, then, you might be welcomed to the autism spectrum by some well-intended expert.

What does this mean? THERE'S A BIT OF AUTISM IN ALL OF US. But the difference between the tragedy of autism and the gift of autism is a JUDGMENT. And the difference between a flower and a weed is also a judgment
